Painted Wooden Chest (Ait Ouaouzgite) - 1003
A beautiful painted chest handmade by the late master craftsman Maalem Si M’bark Aït Mbark of Taznakht in the 1990s. The lid on this particular chest is crooked but still closes over. Whilst the construction of the chest is quite crude, this is more than made up for by the beauty of the painting and decoration. The colours are a striking combination of blues, reds, greens and yellows and the design for each chest is unique but adhering to a similar style. These handcrafted works by Si M’bark Aït Mbark are much sought after.
