Antique Silver Ida ou Nadif Tribal 'Taounza' Headdress, Morocco – RARE

£1,250.00

Beautiful antique high-grade silver traditional headdress, made by the Ida ou Nadif tribe, Morocco, late 19th/early 20th century. It comprises three large rectangular plaques, each with niello design and a large central red glass cabochon. The plaques are linked together with decorative casing. Fifteen dangles are suspended from the plaques, again with niello, and all except the final dangle either side are adorned with a red glass cabochon. Red dots on the plaques signify that this headdress was possibly a dowry piece, handed down within a family. Separate pieces of leather have been sewn together and form the headband of this piece. It appears to be the original band. A lovely authentic headband in good antique condition. We have chosen to keep the lovely patina. A highly collectible rare item.
