Antique Silver & Enamel Moroccan Berber 'Hirz' (Amulet) Pendant from Ida ou Semlal

£265.00

An antique high-grade silver hirz (amulet) from Ida ou Semlal, Anti Atlas Mountains, Morocco. It features traditional green, ochre yellow, blue and red enamel and was most likely worn as part of a fibula (garment fastening). It has three suspended antique coins dated 1315 Hijri years, which corresponds to 1897 in the Gregorian calendar, and is finished nicely with two pieces of glass. It is in good condition for its age. Made from high quality silver (tested). The last photo is of similar amulets in the MAP Museum, Marrakech.
